13.3 million taxpayers have a tax debt with the Internal Revenue Service.
Unresolved tax issues do not go away by themselves. Repeatedly ignored Internal Revenue Service (IRS) letters and warnings allows the IRS to move through required procedures and onto aggressive tax collection expediently – wage garnishment(s) can and will be issued. This is a legal way for the IRS to collect tax debt without you paying them directly. You have the right to professional representation.
If a tax debt situation exists with the IRS, either through dealing with them directly or through other representation and has resulted in an outcome less than either just or reasonable, you have the right to appeal the IRS decision. Engaging expert representation is critical for the best opportunity of an acceptable resolution when presenting your case before the IRS Office of Appeals.
Allow a member of our team to fully review your individual case, complete a financial analysis and outline a plan of action to move forward; even if you have had prior representation there are Office of Appeal rights available to you if you believe you were misrepresented.
- Thorough consultation
- Filing of back taxes
- Financial Analysis
- Comprehensive action plan
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) legally uses multiple methods in the attempted collection of unpaid taxes. The right to appeal to the IRS Office of Appeals exists when you receive notice of IRS collection actions. These collection actions include:
- Intent to levy (wages, retirement accounts, bank accounts, accounts receivable, etc.)
- Seizure and sale of property
- Federal tax lien
- Rejection, termination, or proposed termination of an installment agreement
You have the right to professional representation to guide you through these complex processes, to help ensure you get the best possible outcome.
Business Payroll Tax Issues
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) considers failure to pay (or properly pay) payroll taxes withheld from employees as stealing from both those employees and the US Treasury. Delinquent payroll taxes (IRS forms 940 and 941) from business owners will result in a particularly aggressive IRS. WAC have extensive experience dealing with unpaid payroll taxes, and will negotiate on your behalf with the IRS, ensuring that your business, personal assets, wages and bank accounts remain intact.
Couples filing joint returns are likewise responsible for the tax return and payment of calculated taxes. However, in some situations a spouse can be relieved of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax, interest, and penalties on a joint return. There may be potential innocent spouse relief for people who believe the tax is not their responsibility:
- innocent spouse relief
- separation of liability
- equitable relief
CAUTION: Specific rules apply for community property states which can add a complexity to the representation process be certain your representative is understands these rules and their implication in your specific case PRIOR to engaging them.
Offer in Compromise
Being unable to pay your tax debt in full, may qualify you to have your debt settled for less than the full amount owed. The tax relief representation experts at WAC can determine if this negotiation method is an option. Full financial analysis should be expected by any experience professional prior to submitting an Offer in Compromise (OIC) to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). An Offer in Compromise is the most over-promised method to resolve and reduce tax liability and other options of payment exhausted.
Penalties can calculate up to 25% of an amount owed the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) triggering a small delinquent tax debt to compound into a seemingly impossible amount due in a short increment of time. Our experienced Enrolled Agents are authorities on penalty abatement – requesting the IRS in persuasive and thorough arguments to either completely or partially remove penalties subsequently reducing tax debt to allow manageable payment (or payment arrangement).
Wage Garnishment Release
Repeatedly ignored IRS letters and warnings allows the IRS to move through required procedures and onto aggressive tax collection quickly – wage garnishment (levy) will be issued to collect amounts owed. This is a legal way for the IRS to collect from you without you paying them directly. By law employers can be contacted and are required to redirect a portion of your income to the IRS. Garnishment is not to be taken lightly, in many professions this can have negative impacts beyond redirecting income. Also, keep in mind the original balance due will calculated penalties and interest. WAC can provide the professional representation to help stop the garnishments and negotiate a favorable tax settlement.

We are a Certified Acceptance Agent (CAA) for the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) Individual Tax Identification Number issuance program.
An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is a tax processing number issued by the IRS. The IRS issues ITINs to individuals who are required to have a U.S. taxpayer identification number but who do not have, and are not eligible to obtain, a Social Security number (SSN) from the Social Security Administration (SSA).
You can apply for an ITIN in-person using the services of an IRS-authorized Certified Acceptance Agent which will prevent you from having to mail your proof of identity and foreign status documents. PLUS, CAA’s can monitor, follow-up and assist should any issues arise.
